Lt Gen Ajai Kumar Singh

Lt Gen Ajai Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, PhD (Retd), brings over 40 years of distinguished service in the Indian Army.

Commissioned into the Eleventh Gorkha Rifles Regiment, he has navigated diverse and challenging terrains across the country. Throughout his career, he has held prestigious staff and command positions both domestically and internationally, culminating in his role as Southern Army Commander, where he was entrusted with the critical responsibility of defending
nearly half of India’s land mass.

A scholar at heart, the General is deeply engaged in Defence Studies, Spirituality, Yoga, Mythology, History, and Nature.

An alumnus of HMI, Darjeeling, he is also a passionate trekker and mountaineer, having successfully climbed Mount Rathong (22,005 ft) in the Kanchenjunga Massif. Additionally, he is an enthusiastic sportsman with interests in running, cycling and yoga.

With over three decades of actively pursuing and practising spirituality, he views it as a vital foundation for military leadership, believing it can enhance the effectiveness of Indian military leaders in profound ways.

He has written numerous articles on leadership and spirituality besides having authored a Book titled “Beyond the Battlefield-Spirituality as an enabler of Military Leadership’ and narrating a Book on his wife titled “Shalini- A Life Extraordinaire “.

Settled in Dehradun, the General Officer gives talks on geopolitics , international affairs, military strategy and spirituality besides being a motivational speaker. He is currently a member in the National Security Advisory Board.
